Donald Trump Visited Survivors of Shooting at Florida Hospital
US President Donald Trump arrived in Florida on Friday to meet relatives of victims and survivors of the massacre on Wednesday at a school that left 17 dead and 14 injured.
Together with the first lady, Melania Trump, they went – in a visit that had not been previously announced – to the Broward Health North Hospital , where according to a White House official he was going to thank the medical staff “for their help to save lives” , after the massacre perpetrated on Wednesday by a 19-year-old youth at a high school in Parkland, north of Miami.
The president and his wife also plan to visit the Broward County police station, where the town of Parkland is located, to greet the police authorities for their “courage” to face the tragedy.
On Thursday, the president gave a speech to the nation to refer to the massacre, in which he had advanced “plans” to visit the town of Parkland, where the Marjory Stoneman Douglas secondary school, the scene of the massacre, is located.
In that controversial pronouncement, Trump pledged his government’s efforts to address the “difficult issue” of mental health, but at no time did he refer to legislation that allows widespread access to firearms.
Trump usually spends weekends at a resort he owns in Palm Beach, about 70 kilometers from the town of Parkland.
