In a recent interview with Billboard magazine, Iggy Azalea confessed to seeking professional help for his mental health. The Australian rapper whose musical career has stagnated in recent years said her new management team organized an intervention at the end of 2017 to address “anger issues” stemming from a history of fights with other artists and the press.
“They told me,” Iggy recalls, “we think you’re very talented and you can go to a studio and make hits all day, but we do not know if, for example, someone says something about you and you react in a way that can ruin a Brand agreement We need you to go and talk to these people and make sure you are mentally prepared to come out with new music. ”
Azalea says she did not agree at the beginning, adding, “I did not like the idea of being sent somewhere, I was very upset.” The singer gave credit to her friend Demi Lovato for inspiring her to go, explaining to Billboard that she took into consideration Lovato’s experience prioritizing her mental health and the impact it had on her well-being. The pressure of being the focus of attention made Azalea feel physically fatal, and the personal trauma took her further away from the industry.

“I never sat down to have an honest conversation with professional people,” Iggy said. “It was good to tell someone to give me the tools to manage my life when I felt all those things, so it was very helpful, I’m glad I went.” Despite having tons of regrets, Azalea has hopes for his future: “I do not condemn everything because everything was like landing on Mars, I think it’s too much to digest.”
