The Islamic State released a propaganda video showing the last moments of a group of US soldiers who were ambushed by terrorists in Niger , recorded by one of the victims of the attack.
The incident occurred last October , on the outskirts of Tongo Tongo village (near the Mali border), where a unit of 12 US special forces soldiers and 30 Nigerian soldiers were returning from a training and assistance mission.
There, they were attacked by a group of about 50 ISIS fighters equipped with small arms, grenades and trucks mounted with firearms .
In the video, accompanied by Islamic chants, explicit images of the attack are shown and the soldier who uses the camera in his case being shot down .
The Pentagon reported Monday that it “is aware of the alleged photos and videos of the Islamic State’s propaganda of the terrorist attack of October 4, 2017, in Niger,” and considered that the publication of the video by the terrorist group “demonstrates the depravity of the enemy we are fighting against. ”
They are the first American victims in a mission of training and assistance of the Special Forces of the United States to the Nigerian Armed Forces, whom they also support in intelligence, surveillance and recognition.
