Meghan Markle Has Reportedly Chosen A Wedding Dress Designer Impelreport
Meghan Markle has checked all of the things-to-do off of her wedding day to-do list– including choosing a designer for her bridal gown. The duchess-to-be has already had private fittings at Kensington Palace, and the gown has been transported to Windsor Castle and approved by the Queen, explains royal reporter and biographer Omid Scobie, on Twitter and in his talks with ABC News. The designer’s name remains secret–despite endless speculation.
In early January, “Meghan flew in her close friend and bridal stylist Jessica Mulroney from Toronto to London, where she attended a top-secret fitting at Kensington Palace with the designer,” Scobie said.
The future duchess has worn plenty of British labels during her recent royal outings, and most feel strongly she’ll stick to a British designer for May 19. Reports have been scattered, ranging from Haute Couture house Ralph & Russo to more unexpected fashion go-to’s like Erdem and Christopher Bailey for Burberry. Some have even put money on Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, who designed the Duchess of Cambridge’s gown in 2011. Today, David Emanuel appeared at Windsor Castle, sparking rumors that Markle’s gown could be an unexpected nod to Harry’s late mother.
Mulroney is doing more than help her best friend Markle choose a wedding dress, she’s also assisting with planning the festivities. As a bridal planner, she’s helping Meghan choose a concept for her wedding party outfits and the reception. Mulroney’s children will be a bridesmaid and page boys in the wedding, and until recently she was rumored to be up for the title of Markle’s maid of honor.
In early 2018, Markle invited Mulroney to her and Harry’s home, Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace, to design the bespoke piece. The bride-to-be “expressed the desire to wear something simple and classy and very elegant” on her big day, according to Scobie. “I think we’ll see her go down that route for the wedding day as well,” he added.
Fans of Markle, however, won’t be surprised to see her wearing something simple, classy and elegant as she walks down the aisle. The former actress’ everyday wardrobe already incorporates all three of those styles, and she’s previously dropped hints about her dream wedding gown.
