Pacific Rim Uprising 2018 Movie Photos Trailer Review Impelreport. The film ‘Pacific Rim: Uprising’, starring John Boyega, is the sequel to the blockbuster giant robots and monsters film directed by Guillermo del Toro in 2013. While Pacific Rim: Uprising (2018) was not directed by Guillermo del Toro, director of the original Pacific Rim of 2013, the sequel retains the same premise that made the previous film popular: fierce fighting between robots called Jaegers and sea monsters of the size of skyscrapers. Pacific Rim: Uprising marks the debut as a film director of Steven S. DeKnight, who previously dedicated himself to directing television series, such as Daredevil. The protagonist of the film is John Boyega (Finn in the new trilogy of Star Wars ) and its premiere in the United States will be on March 23, 2018.
Ten years have passed since the Battle of the Breach (seen in the first film) and new gigantic monsters have emerged from the ocean, the dreaded Kaijus. Jake Pentecost (John Boyega), son of Stacker Pentecost (Idris Elba), one of the heroes of the previous movie, leads a new generation of Jaeger pilots and robots to defeat this threat.
Charlie Hunnan could not repeat his role of Pacific Rim (2013), due to conflicts of dates with another shoot, so the producers created the character of Jake Pentecost, who personifies John Boyega, as the new protagonist in the sequel. However, three actors from the original film are back: Rinko Kikuchi (Mako Mori), the comedian Charlie Day (Dr. Newton Geiszler) and Burn Gorman (Dr. Hermann Gottlieb). They are accompanied by Scott Eastwood ( Suicide Squad ), Adria Arjona and Cailee Spaeny. Pacific Rim: Uprising launched two official trailers, but its marketing campaign includes videos focused on some characters as well as the mythology that inspired the design of the kaijus.
