Selena Gomez Suffered From Fatal Complication After Kidney Transplant
The best friend and kidney donor of Selena Gomez, France Raisa, revealed that the pop singer escaped death after the procedure. In a new interview with W magazine, Raisa spoke about the serious health complication that Gómez suffered during his kidney transplant last summer, saying he “could have” died.
“Recovery was difficult,” he recalled. “I did not want to eat, I did not want to drink anything, Selena also had a complication.” A few hours after our surgery, I woke up and received a text message saying: “I’m really scared.” My kidney was very active, and when it changed, I broke an artery, they had to take it to emergency surgery, remove a vein from my leg and build a new artery to keep my kidney in place, I could have died. ”
“I am very grateful that there are people who know what to do in that situation,” Selena said in a Good Morning America interview, explaining that a normal kidney transplant surgery takes two hours. France, 29, also told W that he let Gomez make the call when he publicly disclosed the transplant. She shared, “We did not want to tell anyone because recovery was very difficult for us, and we went through a depression at that moment like we just wanted to be normal and not have that attention on us.”
“I really left it to her,” the actress continued. “I’ve never had anything personal about me before, I’ve dated some very famous people and nobody knows because I’m very private, I said: ‘Do you have to be famous?'”
Now, like Selena, France (which stars Grown-ish ) is fully recovered and lives life to the fullest. “In 2018 I’m just enjoying it,” he added. “The program is a success, my health is good, I have a new home, I have an amazing new boyfriend that I met on the set, I went back to the dance class for the first time last week, now I am more motivated and inspired than ever”.
